Homegrown Pizza

Let real estate agent, Britney Kensmoe, take you on a stroll inside Holly Springs and introduce you to the amazing small business owners of Holly Springs, North Carolina. Holly Springs is the city of southern charm that boasts an abundance of local businesses, an up and coming downtown scene along with delicious eats along the way.

Read on to hear about how Homegrown Pizza got started here in Holly Springs.

Dan Henry is a perfectionist with a relentless work ethic who has been in the restaurant business since his early 20s. Dan never shied away from hard work or the demanding hours of the industry. Starting as a server and bartender he diligently worked his way up to general manager and eventually part-owner of a sports bar. However, the job wasn’t family friendly; it wasn’t close to home and involved arduous hours. His wife Kimberly had spent years as a special education teacher in the Wake County Public School System and was staying at home to raise their young son. When she became pregnant with their daughter, the Henrys decided it was time to make a change. The original owners of a local pizza joint were selling and Dan and Kimberly saw it as their perfect opportunity.

The Henrys opened Homegrown Pizza in late 2002 fulfilling their dream of owning and operating their own restaurant. Dan manages the restaurant and Kimberly assists with morning prep before heading over to Holly Springs High School where she coaches Cross Country and Track. Homegrown Pizza’s menu includes pizza, calzones, burgers, wings, sandwiches, salads, and small bites that are made from scratch with the finest, freshest ingredients. Enjoy the casual family-friendly ambiance of this intimate establishment while grabbing some of their must-have menu items like the Buffalo Wings with a side of homemade bleu cheese dressing, the Crab Cake Sandwich, or the Everybody’s Pizza—Homegrown Pizza’s most popular pie. Pair your entree with a glass of house wine or one of the local beers on tap. Food is available for dine-in and takeout. For almost the last 20 years, Homegrown Pizza has become an established neighborhood favorite and an eating experience not to be missed.

As avid runners Dan and Kimberly enjoy sponsoring races like the Derek Davis Memorial Run 5K, the Holly Springs Half Marathon, and the NC Spring Classic as well as donating post-race food. With Kimberly’s background in teaching and coaching, education is a priority for the Henrys who support local schools by hosting Spirit Nights and donating a portion of Homegrown Pizza’s sales to PTAs.
